Attic Mold

Most people only find out about the mold under the roof plywood when they are in the process of either buying or selling their house. In some cases, it may be required to replace the plywood as well as the roof. There are other cost-effective ways to fix this issue, such as using a spray to stop mold growth.

It is necessary to address all the ventilation issues before remedying the mold. Feel free to get in touch with us to book an appointment.

What are the signs of mold inside the attic?

If you see any dark color spots or patches anywhere on the ceiling, that can be a form of mold. A visual inspection of the attic is a great way to find the presence of mold inside the attic.

Alternatively, a mold testing kit can be used to detect mold anywhere in the house. Our professional team can also help you find any mold-related issues as we provide free inspections.

How to get rid of mold in my attic?

Mold grows due to a lack of ventilation and increased moisture levels inside the attic. It is best to find and address the root cause of the mold before starting to remove or fix it.

In most cases, we replace the moldy plywood at the time of roof replacement. Mold can also be scraped off of the surface before spraying the surface with mold spray to prevent mold from occurring again.

Can I just paint over the moldy surface?

It is not recommended to apply paint on top of the mold, before fixing the root cause of the issue. Hiding mold under the paint can even worsen the problem as the moisture gets trapped under the paint and the mold can grow even more rapidly.

Once the root cause has been addressed and the mold has been cleaned, then only you should consider painting the surface.
